This patient was born with undersized lateral incisors, commonly known as “peg laterals,” which created uneven width proportions across his front teeth and made the smile feel less balanced.
After completing orthodontic treatment to distribute the spaces more evenly, we discussed treating either four or six front teeth. Because his canines could not be moved any further orthodontically, treating six teeth would have given us greater control over the final proportions and overall smile balance. The patient understood those limitations but elected to move forward with four porcelain veneers for now.
We used the veneers to improve the shape, symmetry, and width relationships of the front teeth. The patient also chose a slightly whiter shade than we typically recommend for the most natural result, but his preference was the priority and he was very happy with the final outcome.
